Job Responsibilities:-
1-Review and develop all aspects of the College’s Environment & Health & Safety Policy and activity, and ensure that it is implemented consistently across the Colleagues
2-Implement the company's management rules and regulations and safety performance system strictly, observe the company's secrets strictly, preserve the company's benefits, abide by professional ethics
3-Work proactively with managers and other key staff to establish and maintain a program of continuous improvement in the management of Health and Safety within their areas of responsibility, which includes conducting regular audits
4-Maintain a central record of all risk assessments and monitor recording within Directorate and resource areas Approve risk assessments for student trips, visits, work experience, and workplace assessments.
5-Liaise with Occupational Health Service staff on health surveillance where a risk assessment has identified a need, including carrying out stress risk assessments when required. Maintain appropriate records
6-Provide College staff with comprehensive and relevant information and training on College Health and Safety systems and procedures including advising on equipment purchase and workplace practices.
7-Maintain the accident and near miss database and prepare reports for Health and Safety Committee and Corporation, using statistical and other analytical tools. Inform the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) of accidents or incidents that require notification.
8-Undertake the planning and implementation of fire drills and other evacuation procedures, e.g. in the case of a bomb threat and as part of the College’s Emergency Plan and Business Continuity teams
9-Ensure that appropriate records are maintained in compliance with legal requirements, e.g. COSHH, and that necessary notices are displayed and reviewed
10-Design and deliver training sessions on key areas of College activity in relation to Health and Safety and support the delivery of other training programs, including new staff induction and Duty Manager training
11-Ensure compliance with, and implementation of, all College policies and procedures that impact the delivery of effective Health and Safety systems, including Data Protection, the Single Equality Scheme, and Safeguarding
