Job Profile:


Work within Global Procurement Sourcing Strategy to develop and drive the long term commercial strategy of a specific commodity(ies) enabling HSBC to step change its savings delivery.

Responsible for assisting in the delivery of a specific Procurement Sourcing Strategy.

Ensure seamless supply of goods and services to HSBC and other areas of the Group

Engage and influencing at senior levels to support Procurement Sourcing Strategies

To proactively direct all aspects of the supplier lifecycle through strategy, business engagement, tender, negotiation and contract management, ensuring the best interests of HSBC are served in managing HSBC and other areas of the Group’s Agreements.

Awareness of risk in Commodity area and how to mitigate commercially, contractually and operationally including CSR and Banking relationships.

Principal Accountabilities: Key activities and decision making areas


Achieve annual savings as set in target for Commodity.

Develop and deliver Global Procurement Sourcing Strategy.

Understand business requirements and align Procurement Sourcing strategies to meet these requirements. 

Responsible for establishing, championing and delivering targets that focus on cost, quality, service and innovation with the supply base. Identifying opportunities to create additional value and not just cost saving the category.

Be aware of potential commercial decisions which may influence existing or potential banking relationships by liaising as necessary with the appropriate Corporate/Retail Relationship Manager.

Positively influences key stakeholders by using a range of prompting means.

Review of supplier relationships with different areas of the Group to ensure opportunities for synergy are fully exploited

Proactive relationship with key stakeholder suppliers for Service/Product. 

To negotiate and implement terms and conditions of contract so as to assure maximum benefit, contractual protection and risk minimization for the Group.

To continually reassess the operational risk inherent in the business, taking into account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings and impact of new technology and financial stability of Third Party Suppliers.

Manage Third Party suppliers [within a Supplier Performance framework], paying particular attention to CSR and ethical trading practices and the global marketplace.

Drive the use the standard Procurement sourcing process and associated tools of e-Procurement tools (e-Auctions, RFQ, etc.)

Role Context: The environment and operating conditions of the role including the extent of guidance and authority


The Function provides a professional Procurement service to every division of HSBC, to HSBC Holdings, to all HSBC Group companies in the local country.

The Procurement manager will have full responsibility for their commodity area and for all aspect of Procurement in relation to their commodity (identification of supplier, correct specification of the product as per user requirements, price negotiation, contract terms, ordering, maintenance/support contracts, inventory management and disposal).

Management of the total life cycle of the given product/service and relationships both internal and external.

Many of the demands from business are time critical with very short notice to react to, requiring a fast response and disciplined approach to avoid risks (delay or a wrong answer may cost the bank substantial sums of money) so balanced judgement under pressure is essential.

Provide guidance and personal challenge and growth to support staff.

Possess a high degree of expertise and market knowledge  and to provide advice and guidance on all Procurement related matters to internal customers including strategy and supplier management.

 

Qualifications

 

Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, or any related field

Minimum of 5 years’ experience within Procurement

In-depth knowledge of preparing and reviewing contracts, invoicing, and negotiation terms

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Strong record of stakeholder management

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Excellent commercial negotiation skills.  

Proven track record of handling multiple bids/tenders

Strong knowledge of the Financial industry and its Procurement needs

Hands on experience with sourcing software
