ICARDA Social Media - Communications intern
Description
This internship will enable the successful candidate to
develop an understanding of ICARDA and its mission within the CGIAR system and
the tasks will support the intern in developing strong understanding of how
communications can contribute to the mission of a research organisation.
Some of the main tasks in the internship include:
Assisting with the drafting and posting of social media
posts and campaigns;
Assisting with the social media calendar and scheduling;
Supporting the team in their use of the email marketing tool
(MailChimp). Helping to develop compelling email alerts and newsletters;
Performing twice-daily sweep of watch-lists, news, alerts,
trends, top stories, etc. across our tools to produce content suggestions for
social media outputs;
Responding to messages, and monitoring reactions on our
social media platforms;
Helping source appropriate images for general communications
purposes;
Helping build and review paid advertising audience lists on
Facebook;
Supporting the team at live and online events;
Identifying relevant handles, hashtags and tags for social
media posts;
Advising the team on new social media techniques, tools, and
model digital campaigns;
Helping collect and analyse metrics across ICARDA digital
activities;
Locating and cataloguing raw footage from past ICARDA
videos;
Cleaning up the ICARDA Flickr and YouTube channels.
Requirements
Must be currently enrolled in a University or Graduate
School and have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies, or
alternatively, have completed their university studies within the past six
months;
Up to 1 year of experience in social media;
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
Good level of English (oral and written);
Fluency in using social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter,
Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
Desirable competencies and skills:
Hootsuite;·
Mailchimp for newsletters;
Facebook Live and similar on other channels;
Alert software (news/google alerts/tags/mentions);
Paid advertising – FB Manager/AdWords;
Google analytics.
